Mini Tennis

Ages 4 to 10 — the LTA pathway, played as a game from day one.

We follow the LTA Mini Tennis age groups so that every child learns the essential skills of the game in the right order, on the right court, with the right ball.

The stages

Blue — ages 4 to 6

Saturday 10–11am · Sunday 9–10am

A child’s introduction to physical activity. Balance, agility and coordination are at the core, alongside lots of fun, progressive games that help children learn through play — skills that benefit far more than tennis.

Red — ages 5 to 8

Thursday 4.30–5.30pm · Saturday 10–11am · Sunday 9–10am

A full and comprehensive basis on which to start a tennis journey: agility, balance and coordination alongside proper technique. By the time players move up to Orange at eight, we aim for them to hit every shot and play points.

Orange — ages 8 to 9

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 4.30–5.30pm · Saturday 9–10am · Sunday 11am–12pm

Developing the Red Ball skills onto a larger court with a heavier ball. By the end of the course players should rally with each other, serve, and play points with confidence.

Green — age 10

Monday and Tuesday 4.30–5.30pm · Saturday 11am–12pm · Sunday 11am–12pm

A one-year stepping stone to Full Ball: the full-size court, a larger racket and a heavier ball. Plenty of points-based drills, so players arrive at 11+ comfortable serving from the baseline and competent from every area of the court.

Sandal Superstars

A weekly trophy given to one mini tennis player in each class, rewarding effort and improvement. Players take their Sandal Superstar trophy home to show their parents and friends, and return it to the coach the following week to be cleaned and awarded again.

Rackets

We can supply a racket and three balls for £4.99 for under-16s. Ask Danny at your first session.

After Green Ball, players move into our junior squads.
