Weekly Play

Turn up, mix in, play. No partner needed.

Social tennis is the heartbeat of Sandal. Sessions are organised so you can arrive on your own, be put into a game, and play good tennis with good people. A committee member or a more experienced member facilitates play and sets up the games.

How social tennis works

We encourage players to mix in and play sets together — sometimes full sets, sometimes first to five, sometimes best of five, depending on how busy the session is. Some matches are played at a high tempo and a high standard; plenty are not. Both are welcome.

On court we expect good etiquette: hit the ball to your opponent at a pace suited to their game rather than yours, keep play safe, and use the session to develop skill rather than power.

Our safeguarding, diversity and inclusion policy applies at every social session. Please see Safeguarding.
